Our story
From classics to electric.
Founded in 2002 and incorporated in 2004, EVS began by bringing classic cars from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s up to modern standards.
We were among the first to pioneer new standards for classics, including HID retrofits, exotic engine swaps and custom wheel fitments. As word spread, customers kept asking us to modify and service their cars, too. Today, EVS Motors is a Tesla Approved Collision Center, a Rivian Service Partner and a custom studio trusted by drivers who want their car to reflect who they are.
Our clients have included Johnny Carrabba, founder of Carrabba’s Italian Grill; entrepreneur, author and investor Pejman Ghadimi; Rikki Rockett, Tony Little, Aaron Glenn, Terrence Newman and Dunta Robinson, among many others.
Founder story
It started with a ’64 Impala.
Ted Nguyen was born in the US to Vietnamese parents who served in the US military, and he was a car guy long before cars were his job.
He earned a business and information technology degree from the University of Houston and went to work at the local Porsche dealerships. In his spare time he was always working on project cars of his own.
One of those cars changed everything: a Tuxedo Black 1964 Impala SS. A stranger flagged Ted down on the 59 freeway, had him follow him to the bank and bought the car for cash on the spot. Ted took the hint. Around 2002 he started buying classic muscle cars, customizing them with modern features like fuel injection, air conditioning, xenon headlights and navigation, and selling them to fellow enthusiasts.
Ted built the business with his wife, Anita, who is EVS’s co-owner and co-founder. EVS Motors was incorporated in 2004. As customers asked for the same treatment on their own cars, EVS opened the EVS Motors Performance Studio in 2011. Today it has grown into a Tesla-approved collision and EV shop, still owned and run by Ted and Anita.
